For almost eight years, since August 1, 2002, Dr. Raúl Rodríguez has served as the Superintendent/President of San Joaquin Delta College. As the CEO of the San Joaquin Delta Community College District, Dr. Rodríguez oversees: a district that spans 2,400 square miles and serves parts of five counties; a college that serves approximately 20,000 credit students; and, a college workforce that consists of more than 1,000 full-time and part-time employees.
Prior to joining Delta College, Dr. Rodríguez was president of Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, California from August 1996 until August 2002. Prior to that, he was interim president at San Jose City College and he also held the position of Vice President of Instruction at that same college.
Dr. Raul Rodriguez obtained a PhD in Psychology in 1987 from the University of California, Santa Cruz; a master of arts in school and applied psychology in 1982 from Fairfield University, Fairfield, Connecticut; and a bachelor of arts in liberal studies from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio in 1977.
Dr. Rodríguez has a long record of community service and currently sits on the CHW St. Josephs Medical Center Board, the Goodwill Industries of San Joaquin Board, the Astronaut Jose M. Hernandez Reaching for the Stars Foundation Board, and the Workforce Investment Board, among others. He also has considerable experience with numerous national, state, and regional committees, including the American Association of Community Colleges President's Academy, the National Community College Hispanic Council, the ACCT President's Advisory Committee, the CEO Board of the California Community Colleges, and the Boards of Directors for the Higher Education Coordinating Council and the Central Valley Higher Education Council.
