    • Josh Kun's research "focuses on the arts and politics of cultural connection, with an emphasis on popular music, the cuAudiotopialtures of globalization, the US-Mexico border, and Jewish-American musical history." He will discuss his latest work, "Black and Brown in Los Angeles - A Contemporary Reader" - copies of his book will be available for purchase.

March 4: SMC and Sustainable Works Move us Forward
Meet Genevieve Bertone as she leads our Center for Environmental and Urban Studies and learn from the professionals at Sustainable Works as they show how their synergy continues to improve the quality of our living and working environments.

April 8: Zero Net Energy Homes - What will they look like?
• Join renewable energy expert Stuart Cooley for a discussion of residential home designs that produce as much energy as they consume, and how California plans to bring them to market.
May 6: How to Improve the Food System
• Join anthropologist, Gillian Grebler, and a panel of SMC and community food activists to find out what's going on in our community and on campus in the quest for food that's good, clean, fair - and available to everyone. 

May 27: Climate Change 101 Night
• Learn the latest science behind climate change. How do we know what is happening to our climate, what can we expect in the future, and what can we do about it?

25th Annual Latina/o Youth Conference | Saturday, March 1, 2014 | 8:30 a.m. | SMC Main Stage

• Keynote Speaker: Dolores Huerta is a historical figure in the Latino community, will address the participants as future leaders and role models. The day will include many workshops, a resource fair, and a luncheon. This event is co-sponsored by the SMC Adelante group, and is an important annual motivational and educational gathering for Latino students.
