Jesse Ramirez’s life mission is to be actively involved in integrating lower social-economic communities into mainstream American culture: to oppose discrimination, promote healthy lifestyles, develop cultural knowledge, encourage spiritual development, and help prevent reoccurring cycles of poverty through education.
Jesse serves as Student Trustee on the SMCCD Board of Trustees for 2013-2014. Currently enrolled in Santa Monica College, Jesse is also a member of the SMC Adelante Program, a member of the Student Veterans’ Club, and also a clerk in the Math Lab.
Prior to his new position, he served as Director of Publicity for the Santa Monica College Associated Students for 2012-2013. A veteran of the United States Armed Forces, in which he served six years, Jesse came to Santa Monica College in the fall of 2011 in pursuit of a higher education. His activism began when he founded Project: Dreams Made Reality, a student organization dedicated to the enrichment and improvement of minority communities through education, bridge building, and other outreach programs.
Jesse is working towards his Associate of Arts degree in Social and Behavioral Science and is hoping to transfer to a four-year university with a focus on studying Political Science in the fall of 2014.
