It is such a treat and a genuine honor to serve as President of SMC’s General Advisory Board for the 2014-2016 term. My education and experiences at Santa Monica College are at the very core of who I am and what I do today.
Since its inception in 1929, Santa Monica College has provided a platform for the social, educational and professional growth of hundreds of thousands of students and graduates, and like myself, a high percentage have transitioned from teenagers into adults and have become productive members of our community and our society as a whole.
SMC’s General Advisory Board meets five time a year to learn about new programs and changes that are happening on SMC’s various campuses and facilities. From major construction projects and new facilities, to new educational opportunities, including SMC’s new 4-Year Bachelor’s Degree in Interaction Design, to the world-class entertainment and culturally relevant conversations at The Broad Stage and at SMC’s Main Campus, there is always something great to discover about Santa Monica College.
Our GAB members, that include prominent citizens and leaders in our community, join with college administrators and staff members, to socialize before our breakfast meetings and to voice information and concerns on issues that are raised at our meetings during presentations and discussions. With issues discussed and clarified, our members are prepared to promote SMC’s great programs, facilities and educational opportunities to the broader community.
I look forward to working with you to bring a renewed vitality to the GAB, and by welcoming new and diverse members, and embracing our vision for a global community.
