Jackie Lopez—co-founder, co-artistic director, and choreographer of Versa-Style Dance Company and Versa-Style Next Generation, as well as adjunct lecturer at the UCLA Department of World Arts and Cultures, Director of the UCLA Summer Dance/Performing Arts Intensive for high school students, and Executive Director for The Flourish Foundation—will lead a class in hip-hop social dances from the early 90s to the modern era, and show you how to add some flavor to your freestyle! Marie-France Levesque

Classical Ballet

Renowned dancer and teacher Marie-France Levesque—who is currently on the dance faculty at the prestigious Viewpoint School in Calabasas, has been a teacher for the Sunday Intensives for the American Ballet Theatre William J. Gillespie School at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, and has worked and performed with Mikhail Baryshnikov, Rudolph Nureyev, Natalia Makarova, Agnes De Mille, Twlya Tharp, and other master dancers and choreographers—will lead a class in Classical Ballet that explores her unique style and approach rooted in a strong classical base. Please note: This master class is designed for the students at the advanced level of ballet technique.

 & Screening of Film Singin’ in the Rain

Join us for a screening of the classic film about the on- and off-screen lives of two dancing film stars. Year released: 1952. Directors: Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly. Starring: Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor, and Debbie ReynoldsSMC Film Studies professor Josh Kanin and SMC Dance Department chair Judith Douglas will moderate an audience discussion following the screening.
