Northanger Abbey
[The Edye]
DEC 5-14, 2014
The two-person British theater company transports us to a world of beautiful puppets and gothic romance in this award-winning adaptation of Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey. The laugh-out-loud presentation about a novel-obsessed young girl breathes fresh life into Austen’s work. With two performers, seven puppets, and a vintage trunk-full of handmade props and costumes, Northanger Abbey ignites the imagination and delights in every last drop of Austen’s humor and wit.

The Emerald Isle’s widely acclaimed acoustic band brings its Celtic Holiday celebration to sunny Santa Monica. Called an “Irish music dream team” by Folk Roots Magazine, the band’s inventive arrangements and bass-driven grooves have steered Irish acoustic music into surprising new territory. With a blend of homey nostalgia and high-energy holiday songs, the Celtic supergroup will be joined onstage by “one of the true glories of Irish music today” (The Wall Street Journal), vocalist and recent guest on A Prairie Home Companion, Karan Casey.
Chris Lemmon as Jack Lemmon in
Jack Lemmon Returns
[The Edye]
JAN 7-25, 2015
Chris Lemmon, son of Hollywood legend Jack Lemmon (Some Like It Hot, The Odd Couple), joins us at The Broad Stage for an immensely personal, and ultimately heartwarming story about his Academy Award-winning father and their enduring relationship. Written and directed by Hershey Felder and performed by Chris as his father, Jack Lemmon Returns is a one-man show that captures the magic of a bygone era, when Marilyn Monroe, Gregory Peck, James Cagney, Jimmy Stewart, and Shirley MacLaine were but a handful of stars who would pass through the Lemmons’ Hollywood Hills home. Performed in a musical story-telling style that includes George and Ira Gershwin’s “Love is Here to Stay” and “’S Wonderful,” Jack Lemmon Returns is a loving tribute to a world-famous dad, told with respect and dignity.
Support made possible in part by a generous contribution from Linda and Michael Keston.
