Add Individual Events

You can either post the events on your own or ask us to post it for you.

  1. Email websocialmedia@smc.edu for access with email subject "Calendar Access Request".
  2. Go to the Events Calendar
  3. Click the Events tab in the top right corner.
  4. Click New Event and a new window will pop up:
    • Title: Make sure it is title-cased and less than 5-7 words. Note: "UCs" and "CSUs" do not have an apostrophe before the "s" because it is not possessive.
Example: "Scholarship Workshop" or "UCLA Visits SMC".
Note: "FAQ" stands for "Frequently Asked Questions" (plural). You do not need to add an "s" after FAQ.
    • Location: Use building code and room number.
      Example: HSS 165.
    • Description: Make sure it is clear and concise. No longer than 1-2 sentences. Include a link for more information. You will need to use code to link the text.
Example: Lecture Series looks like this in code: "<a href="/AboutSMC/Associates/Pages/Events.aspx" target="_blank">Lecture Series</a>"
    • Category: Either choose "Meeting" or Specify your own value. Common values include "Workshop", "Lecture", and "Celebration".
    • Recurrence: Take advantage of this option to avoid creating multiple events.
    • Publish on SMC Homepage: Yes
