About the Teaching and Learning Center
The Teaching and Learning Center is funded by the Title V-Hispanic Servings Institutions (HSI)Program under the U.S. Department of Education. The title of the Title V-HSI grant which was awarded to SMC is Building Foundations for Academic and Career Success. The aim of this project is to support low-income, Latino, and other traditionally underrepresented students as they pursue their academic and career goals.
At the heart of this grant will be SMC's new Teaching and Learning Center (TLC), which will offer an annual Faculty Summer Institute, quarterly seminars for all faculty, departmental workshops that target career-specific improvements in math, English, and content specific-courses, and customized individual and small group support.

Connect, collaborate, and create at the Faculty Summer Institute(FSI). Join us for our first Faculty Summer Institute: learn about ways to revitalize your teaching, increase student retention and persistence, and keep students engaged.
During the institute, experts and practitioners in the field of education will share research-based strategies that increase student success.
Space is limited to 20 instructional faculty. Participating faculty will receive a stipend for their participation in the Faculty Summer Institute and continuing involvement in the TLC. For more information about FSI, please read the first page of the SMC Faculty Summer Institute application below.

Please read all instructions on the Application Form before submitting the application. The application form is a fillable adobe form. Faculty can fill out the form and submit the form by clicking on the submit button located on the top right hand corner of the application. The submit button will be located under the toolbar in the purple row. Please see the picture below for the location of the submit button.
If the application does not contain the toolbar or purple row pictured above, you might not be able to submit the application via the adobe form. If you do not see the toolbar or purple row, please print the application and scan it to Laura at manson_laura@smc.edu . Please submit your completed application form by the application deadline of Wednesday, May 22nd. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
