Program Admission Priorities

Continuing SMC Students

  • Math 20-ready (Intermediate Algebra or higher) by Fall 2018

  • 2 years of SRI program commitment

  • Interest in one of the STEM fields

  • Planned Fall 2018 enrollment in Math and Science courses

Incoming SMC Students (Current High School Students)

  • Complete SMC Application

  • Minimum of 2 years of high school science

  • Math 20-ready (Intermediate Algebra or higher) by Fall 2018

  • Recommended ~2.50 High School GPA

  • Interest in one of the STEM fields

  • Planned Fall 2018 enrollment in Math and Science courses

STEM Program Application Process

​How to apply

  1. Complete online application when it reopens in Spring 2018.​ 

  2. Check email for program notifications end of May/early June 2018.

  3. Once admitted, attend summer orientation on June 13th/14th/15th, 2018 and Summer STEM Skills Week, August 13-18, 2018.

NOTE: In order to complete the online SRI application you will need to have already done the following:

  1. ​Applied to SMC online (www.smc.edu)

  2. Received your SMC ID #

  3. Activated your SMC email address* in Corsair Connect
    (last name_first name@student.smc.edu)

*You will need an active SMC email address to access the online application.

Important Application Reminders

​APPLICATION DEADLINE: Thursday, May ​10, 2018 at 11:59pm

Applicants will be notified of decisions end of​ May/early June.

Please note the following important items:

  • TRANSCRIPTS: as part of the application, you will need to upload your UNOFFICIAL Transcripts into the google form. The form will only accept PDF or JPEG files.

      1. ​​Current SMC Students: only need to upload their SMC unofficial transcripts, as well as those from any other colleges/universities attended.​
      2. Incoming HS students (graduating seniors): only need to upload their unofficial HS transcripts (which DO NOT need to include their final spring semester grades)​
  • You MUST use your SMC Email to log into the application. If you are unable to access the application:

    1. Log out of all Gmail​ accounts

    2. Close and restart your browser

    3. Log into your corsair connect account at www.smc.edu 

    4. Then click on the application link.

  • If you are still having trouble accessing the application, please contact the STEM office.

  • Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

  • You should be able to save and return to your application once you begin. However, we recommend answering the short-response questions in a word doc, then cutting and pasting them into the application to avoid losing your data.

  • Duplicate applications: If you fill out and submit the application more than once, only the most recent application will be reviewed.
