Scheduling of Biology majors courses

The general expectation is that students take Biology 21, 22, and 23 in that sequence.  This is particularly important in the factual information presented in the sequence of courses but in the development of critical thinking skills for applying concepts and analyzing and interpreting scientific data.  Truly exceptional students can take Biology 23 before Biology 22, but Biology 21 is  the foundation of this program.

Bearing this in mind, students should plan their time here at SMC looking at when each of these courses are offered throughout the year, melding this with the math, physics, chemistry, and general education courses that are necessary to transfer.  Below shows the number of sections of each course taught in the Fall and Spring semesters, along with the two intersessions (Winter and Summer).  All courses are taught during the day with the exception of a single section of Biology 21 taught in the evenings in the Fall and Spring as a hybrid course.

Biology 21 seems to be the only impacted course.  Biology 22 and 23 fill each semester, but most all students who wish to enroll manage  to do so.
