Chamber Choir

    Niké St. Clair, Conductor

The Chamber Choir is SMC's smaller, select choir (usually between 16 and 24 singers). The group performs an eclectic mix of jazz, pop, and classical music. As a consequence, ability to read music is very important, although not absolutely necessary. Auditions for the group are held every semester. Singing with this ensemble is a good way to improve your musical skills, as well as have a wonderful time learning all kinds and styles of music. The audition consists of singing a few scales to determine vocal type, and "sitting in" at the first rehearsal. In this manner, both the instructor and student can determine whether or not this group is the appropriate one for the student. We perform several times at the end of the semester, both on campus and off campus, so a bit of additional time above and beyond the "normal" class hours may be required.
