The SMC Symphony

The SMC Symphony is a college/community orchestra that performs two concerts each semester at the beautiful Eli and Edyth Broad Stage at the Santa Monica College Performing Arts Campus. The orchestra rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 6:45 – 9:50 p.m. Membership is by audition and at the discretion of the instructor.

Students in the Symphony should register for course Music 74. Community members are welcome and encouraged to sign up for Community Service for a nominal fee. Musicians should expect to maintain attendance at all services requiring their presence and to maintain the technique necessary to play the music of each term. The orchestra performs music from Baroque to Contemporary and from the Classics to Jazz, Hollywood, Broadway, and Rock.

Students and community musicians interested in the SMC Symphony are encouraged to contact the music office by calling (310) 434-4323.
