Purpose:

• The SMC Student Early Alert program was designed to identify students experiencing difficulties in the classroom.
  
• Students in difficulty are identified by instructors at any point during the semester. Problems may range from such things as tardiness/absences, to poor academic performance, to tlearning difficulties.
  
• Once identified, students are automatically contacted by email (or in person).
  
• A select number of students are also contacted by counselors for additional follow-up.
