Brandon J. Reilly is an Assistant Professor in History at Santa Monica College where he teaches World Civilizations, History of East Asia, History of Southeast Asia, and History of Latin America. He received his Ph.D. in Southeast Asian History from UCLA in 2013. His dissertation, "Collecting the People: Textualizing Epics in the Philippines from the Sixteenth Century to the Twenty-First," examines the history of recording oral epics over the past five centuries. He is coeditor, with Nenita Pambid Domingo, of the volume on Filipino women’s history, Tinipong Tinig ng Kababaihan, forthcoming from the University of the Philippines Press. His research interests include the Philippines, cultural history, media studies, gender and sexuality, literature, and comparative Spanish and American colonialism.
