Francesca Kemitch holds a M.A. in Italian Literature and a B.A. with special emphases on Art History from UCLA. During her studies she taught for 4 years at UCLA as a teaching assistant and soon after at UCLA extension. In 2007 she opened the Italian program at California State University of Los Angeles and also started teaching Italian language at Santa Monica College. As an Italian professor she has taught many language courses ranging from level 1- 5. She was born and raised in Italy from an American father and an Italian mother and grew up bilingual. She has travelled extensively throughout Europe and other continents including Africa, Central America and Asia. In addition to Italian and travel, Professor Kemitch is also a Pilates Instructor and has many interests including scuba diving, sailing and cycling. She is looking forward to sharing the richness of travel and cross-cultural engagement with SMC students.
