The mission of the Classified Professional Development Committee is to offer training, education, professional and personal growth for classified employees.

Classified Staff Fall 2014 Opening Day Tentative Program 

The campus will remain open to assist students beginning the fall semester.  It is important to coordinate both with your supervisor and your co-workers so everyone has a chance to attend one or more speakers or workshops.  Do not leave your work area without clearing it with your supervisor. Classified staff must also sign in for the Opening Ceremony and at each workshop attended.
 
t  We will begin the day with Coffee & Networking at 8:00 a.m.
t  The Opening Ceremony begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. in the Pavilion.
t  Two of the morning sessions will feature outside speakers:
 
Dr. Frank Harris, III, an Associate Professor and co-chair of the Minority Male Community College Collaborative (M2C3) will discuss equity issues in his presentation.  
 
Gail McManus teaches non-violent communication, a process which addresses the challenges and differences in communication.  Her presentation, Communication Skills for Productive and Peaceful Dialogue with Student and Colleagues will explore this process.

v Understanding the Merit System – presented by Personnel Commission staff
v Ergonomic Expo – presented by Keenan & Associates
v Excel for Classified Staff Users – presented by Fariba Bolandhemat, CSIS
v Discover & Explore Your Work Style Through the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator – presented by Jenna Gausman, certified Career Counselor from the Counseling Department

t  Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Quad. Employees will also have the opportunity to update their SMC staff ID and attend the SMC Benefits Fair.
