SMC Waiver Program

 

Santa Monica College Course Tuition and Book/Material Fee Waiver for Classified Employees
 
The District encourages the professional growth of our employees. To support on-going professional growth, SMC will waive tuition and costs of course books and/or material on a first come, first served basis for SMC classified employees. (Article 11.13 of the Agreement between the Santa Monica Community College District & California School Employees Association - Chapter 36)
 

What is eligible for waiver/reimbursement?

·         Tuition for SMC classes

·         Costs for required books and or material(s) for SMC classes - check syllabus and required course materials listing  

Is there a maximum amount that can be reimbursed?

·         There is a limited amount of funds available for reimbursement, and all funds are allocated
      on a first-come, first-served basis; please see CSEA Contract page 62

 

Who is eligible for reimbursement?
·         All CSEA classified staff may apply for SMC course tuition and book/material costs waiver

 

How do I get a reimbursement?

 

Step 1:
·         Complete PART 1 (all boxes/lines) and PART 2 Employee Signature and Supervisor Signature Approvals (in case a schedule modification is needed to attend) of the Application for Waiver form

 

Step 2:

·         Enroll on-line in the  SMC course and take the Application for Waiver form to Admissions to verify enrollment

 

Step 3:

·         Purchase SMC course materials (per the required course material list) out-of-pocket


 Step 4:

·         Attach the required course material list and the original bookstore receipt  to the Application for Waiver form and send the form to the professional development coordinator to complete reimbursement signature process and logging
