I attended high school in Hollywood, I graduated from Helen Bernstein High School. During college application season I found myself in a difficult financial situation that didn’t allow me to go directly to university right after graduating high school. I then looked for alternatives and it was then where I was first introduced to SMC. I did my research and I loved everything about it. I visited the campus and i knew that I wanted to be a Corsair. So my journey at SMC began!

How did SMC influence your life and career?

From the beginning, SMC was very welcoming. The campus vibe was like no other. Everyone was friendly and that was a major influence for me. At first, I was shy and afraid to make new friends but I began to get involved in school activities. I joined Phi Theta Kappa (my schedule only allowed me to be part of it for one semester) and it was the best thing ever. I met with so many inspirational students and that influenced me to get out of my comfort zone. And so I did, I started to speak up more in my classes, asked more questions, engaged with my classmates more, and got to know my professors. This all resulted in great academic performance and an overall amazing experience. The people you surround yourself with truly impact you. To this day I still keep in touch with my classmates.

I am working my way to becoming a Publicist in the Entertainment industry. Growing up in Hollywood and seeing all the buzz during award show season, concerts, and movie premiers definitely influenced my career path. SMC offered the opportunity to obtain an Associate of Arts Degree with the option of transferring to a 4-year university for my major. I immediately took the chance and worked my way towards a degree. I cannot believe that graduation is around the corner, I’m going to miss all things SMC but I am thrilled to begin my new academic journey at California State University Los Angeles. I am beyond excited that I have now received my Associate of Arts in Communication Studies.

Shout-outs and Words of Wisdom?

I want to give a shoutout to my Academic Counselor Arpi Kumuryan, she guided me through the process of obtaining my degree and to graduate on time. She was very helpful, patient, and truly cared about my success. Arpi, thank you for all of your help, you’re amazing and see you at graduation!!! And to SMC I couldn’t have asked for a better college, you’ve been real good to me!!!
