Overview of the EOPS New Student Orientation

The purpose of the orientation is to provide information on program services and review eligibility and the EOPS Mutual Responsibility Contract. 

Is this orientation mandatory?  YES. All new EOPS students and some continuing students are required to attend orientation before seeing an EOPS counselor and receiving services. 

How long is the session?  The session lasts approximately 1 ½ hours 

What do I bring to the orientation?  Please bring a pen.

What if I am late to my scheduled session?

YOU MUST ARRIVE ON TIME to the orientation. If you are late you will have to reschedule and attend another orientation date. 

Steps to Schedule a Session: Please Read Carefully!

You may reserve a space for an EOPS New Student Orientation by linking to the site below OR by using the Corsair Connect. Once you are in the system follow these steps:

Step 1:  Fill out an EOPS Application available from EOPS.  Once you receive an email letting you know that you are eligible, you may sign up to attend an orientation. If you have NOT received an email indicating you are eligible, DO NOT schedule an orientation.  It usually take 3-4 weeks after submitting an application for your eligibility email to go out.


Step 2: Log into CORSAIR Connect using your  SMC student ID number and password

  • Step 1: Click on the 'Enrollment' tab
  • Step 2: Click on 'Counseling Services' from the menu on the left side of the screen.
  • Step 3: Click on 'EOPS Orientation' from the menu in the middle of the screen.
  • Step 4: Choose a date and time from the list of available sessions and click "Sign up"  Write down the date & time in your calendar and attend the session.

Step 4: Once you get to the orientation sign up screen, please select a day and time and enter your name and ID#. We urge you to sign up for the EARLIEST orientations.  We will close the program once we have too many students.  NOTE:  YOU MUST BE NOTIFIED by letter that you are ELIGIBLE to attend new student orientation. If you sign up and you have not received a letter from EOPS/CARE allowing you to sign up, your reservation will be deleted.
