Nationally, April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and we would like to educate the Santa Monica College community to encourage a safe environment. Santa Monica College has shown an incredible commitment to not only informing students of their rights, but also of the support services we have to offer them.


The following organizations are a few of many dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual violence every day:

    Clothesline Project

    11 a.m. - 1 p.m.


    Survivors of sexual violence create art on t-shirts as a visual display to raise awareness.

    Take Back the Night

    6 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

    Football Field

    Survivors of sexual assault share their stories followed by a candlelit vigil and march.

  • Support


    White Ribbon Project

    11:15 a.m. - 12 p.m.


    Take the pledge and receive a white ribbon. Pledge to never commit, excuse or stay silent about male violence towards women.

    Walk A Mile in Her Shoes

    12 p.m. - 12:35 p.m.


    Male allies walk in high heeled shoes to show solidarity with female surivors of men's sexualized violence in their community.

    Annual Denim Day

    11 a.m. - 1 p.m.


    Wear denim to show your support of survivors of sexual assault. Learn about the history of Denim Day by playing games and making art.
