Information Workshops

This workshop is for new and continuing SMC students who are interested in finding out about the Scholars Program and the various priority admissions contracts housed within the Program.  UCLA's TAP contract will be covered extensively as will the requirements for applying to the Program.  (Note that this workshop is not for students who are already in the Scholars Program)

UC Application Workshops

Students will be guided on how to correctly fill out and complete the University of California admissions application.  Particular attention will be given to specific areas on the application that are crucial to the Scholars Program (TAP) student.  Instructions for completing the TAP certification form and process will be covered in this workshop.

College Essay Writing Workshops

The essay, sometimes called the personal statement, presents an important opportunity for students to distinguish themselves from other applicants.  In this workshop, students will learn what schools are looking for and appropriate topics to address.  This workshop is designed to assist students in creating an essay that will have a lasting and positive impression.

Common Application Workshops

The Common Application is an undergraduate college admission application that students may use to apply to any of the 457 member colleges and universities in the United States and various other countries.  This workshop will focus on completing the Common Application as well as the supplemental materials required by many campuses.
