The General Counseling and Transfer Services Center is available to assist all continuing SMC students.

First-time college students who have accumulated less than 30 units should see a counselor in the Welcome Center: for contact information visit smc.edu/welcomecenter

Breaking News!  We will be offering "virtual drop-in counseling this Friday, Mar.27!  Here's how it works:

General Counseling and Transfer Services will offer drop-in counseling over the telephone.
If you'd like to speak to a counselor without an appoitnment, Download the QLESS Android or iOS App. Once you've opened the App, look for Santa Monica College Counseling Callback and follow the prompts.  Then:

Add yourself to the "line" for a 10-20 minute session

We'll send you a text message to alert you when we are ready

We'll call you at the number provided when it's your turn to be seen.

​​ Counselors are also available for telephone appointments and video appointments only (for video counseling appts, we are, using zoom).  Please book an appointment through your Corsair Connect portal by going to the "book a counseling appointment" link under SMC Quick links. You will be emailed a confirmation of your appointment and for video counseling appts, a zoom meeting link will also be provided.

IMPORTANT: For phone appointments, counselors will call the current phone number in your Corsair Connect account, so please ensure that that your phone number is current in your Cosair Connect profile settings and that you have adjusted your cell phone settings to allow "unknown" or "no caller ID" numbers at the time of your appointment. If you cannot be reached, your appointment will be canceled and you must reschedule.

Limited brief questions, and some student petitions can also be submitted online at smc.edu/oc​ If you are trying to reach a counselor in a special program, please check the website How to Connect with a Counselor for contact information of all counseling programs.

If you are only able to call by telephone to schedule an appointment or ask questions, limited personnel are working remotely Monday-Friday and you may call (310) 434-4210 and leave a message.  Please be sure to include your name and phone number, and we will call you back as soon as possible.​

If you are unable to enroll for a Math or English class, Anatomy 1, Biology 21, or Chemistry 11 you may submit your question, along with unofficial transcripts online at smc.edu/oc​ to verify that you have satisfied the prerequisite. For all other science waivers, please email ScienceWaivers@smc.edu for instructions through the Science Department.
