AMERICAN REFLECTIONS - Broadway in Concert
Musical theatre, a form of
theatre that combines songs, dialogue and dance to tell a story, descended from
the early 20th century American Vaudeville tradition and continues to
evolve today with subjects that celebrate the human spirit and reflect on
society. This production, with selections from well-known musicals such as
Sweet Charity, Into the Woods, A Chorus Line, Young
Frankenstein, City Of Angels, Ragtime, Seussical, and many more will travel to China and participate in the
International Exchange Month and the 50th Anniversary of the Founding
of Shandong College of the Arts.

CRIMES OF THE HEART
By Beth Henley
Winner of a Pulitzer Prize and the NY Drama Critics Circle Award, Crimes of the Heart examines the plight of three young Mississippi sisters and how they escape the past to seize the future. Warm-hearted, irreverent, zany, brilliantly imaginative, and consistently hilarious, this play will linger in the mind long after the curtain has descended.

THE TEMPEST
By William
Shakespeare
Set on an enchanted island, The Tempest blends magic, romance, intrigue and spectacle in the quest for justice. The eternal triumph of good over evil is conflated when the oppressed also become the oppressor. The play is redolent with colorful characters like Ariel and Caliban who match wits with Prospero’s magic, villains like Sebastian and Antonio, lovers like Miranda and Ferdinand and clowns like Stefano and Trinculo.

This fast-paced, funny and romantic comedy is considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy. GUYS AND DOLLS brings a cast of vivid characters and familiar songs to warm our hearts. We’re taken from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of NY City, but everything works out in the end.
