SMC Exchange 2010 Server Email Client FAQ

Q. I got the error message after my mailbox was moved to the new Exchange 2010 environment.

A. If your account has been migrated to the Exchange 2010 environment, you may see the following error message:



Please click OK and close Outlook.  Wait for approximately 15-20 seconds, then re-open Outlook.

Q. My Outlook client is very slow after my mailbox was moved to the Exchange 2010 environment.

A. Older clients, such as Outlook 2003 and 2007, may have performance issues with Exchange 2010.  Microsoft recommends enabling the "Cached Exchange Mode" to remedy this issue.  Please follow the directions below for your version of Outlook.


Outlook 2003

  1. On the Tools menu, click E-Mail Accounts, click View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next.
  2. In the Outlook processes e-mail for these accounts in the following order list, click the Exchange Server e-mail account, and then click Change.
  3. Under Microsoft Exchange Server, select the Use Cached Exchange Mode check box.
  4. Exit and restart Microsoft Outlook.


Outlook 2007

  1. On the Tools menu, click Account Settings.
  2. On the E-mail tab, click the Exchange Server account, and then click Change.
  3. Under Microsoft Exchange server, select the Use Cached Exchange Mode check box.
  4. Exit and restart Office Outlook.
