Where is the Assessment Center located? Return to the top of the page

The Assessment Center is located in Liberal Arts (Dark Green building) room 109.  It is directly adjacent to the Bursar’s office.

The Bursar’s office (Formerly Station C) is located in the Liberal Arts patio near the counseling complex and the assessment center. Look for the cashier’s windows!

What’s the difference between the Welcome Center and the Counseling Complex? Return to the top of the page

The Welcome Center is designed for first time freshmen who are attending SMC. First time freshmen include  High school graduates, first time SMC attendees and students who are transferring from another college..  The counseling complex accommodates students who are continuing students at Santa Monica College.

The Welcome Center is located in the Cayton center/Cafeteria on the first floor in room 110.  We are directly across from the Science Building and adjacent to the Health office. Look for the signs that lead to the Welcome Center.

Where do visitors park? Return to the top of the page

Visitors can park in Lot 1 for $5 and along Pico and Pearl Street (in front of the campus only) Please read all posted signs and make sure the area you park in is not permit parking.

Can you help me with my residency? Return to the top of the page

Residency questions can be answered by the admissions office. Please also visit this webpage for more residency information www.smc.edu/admissions.

Do I qualify for Financial Aid? Return to the top of the page

For more information on how to qualify for financial aid please visit their website. We recommend all students apply even if they think they don’t qualify. www.smc.edu/financialaid

What are your office hours? Return to the top of the page

The Welcome Center office hours are Monday –Thursday 8:00 am-7:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am-1:30 pm during the summer.  In the fall and spring, office hours are Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 am-1:30 pm.

The Welcome Center ambassadors and financial aid staff is able to assist you with all your FAFSA Questions.

Where can I pay my fees? Return to the top of the page

Fees can be paid online through the student self service system or in person at the Bursar’s Office.

Where can I find Housing? Return to the top of the page

SMC has no official housing department. We do have a bulletin board with references and housing posted it is located in the rear of cafeteria.  Also, the International Students Counseling Office has a list of available housing.

How much is Tuition? Return to the top of the page

Residents:  $20/Unit

Non-Residents:  $195/Unit (Some non-resident students, other than F-1 visa students, may pay only $164/Unit

Where can I buy a Parking Permit? Return to the top of the page

Parking permits are available for purchase in person through the Bursar’s office.  You can only buy a permit if you have enrolled in a class/classes.

The Welcome center does not make appointments; all of our services are on a first come first served basis.
