What is Santa Monica College Academic Senate?

The SMC's Academic Senate is an organization whose primary function is to make recommendations to the administration of the college and to the governing board with respect to academic and professional matters.
The Academic Senate consists of elected faculty and has primary responsibility in matters related to the curriculum and general academic policy, and works closely with the administration in other areas of college life.
