Mac Proxy and Wireless Setup

 

Apple Macintosh: Safari: Proxy Setup 

1. Open Safari and go to Preferences.

2. Go to the Advanced tab

3. Select  Proxies: Change Settings.

To configure proxies manually.

Select Manually on the Configure Proxies menu.

Select Web Proxy (HTTP) by putting a check in the check box next to it.

Under Web Proxy Server type: proxy1.smc.edu :80

Select Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS) by putting a check in the check box next to it.

Under Web Proxy Server type: proxy1.smc.edu :80

Click the Apply Now button.

Safari Network Proxies

 

Apple Macintosh: Firefox: Proxy Setup

1. Open FireFox and go to Preferences.

2. Go to the Advanced tab and select the Network tab.

3. Select  Settings

4. Select Auto-detect proxy settings for this network 

Click the OK button

If the "Auto-detect proxy settings" option does not work for you then you can manually configure your proxy settings as follows: checkmark the box for "Manual proxy configuration", and in the HTTP Proxy box type: proxy1.smc.edu and in the Port box type: 80. Click OK to close all windows and you are done.

Note: You must remember to change your settings back when you leave the Library or you internet connect may not work. These settings are only for use of the SMC wireless network.

 

Apple Macintosh: WPA Wireless Setup

1.  Right click on your Airport icon and the following menu will appear.

2. Click on Other (Some systems may say join other network).

Do the following:

Network Name: type smcwifi-wpa in lower case letters

Wireless Security: Select WPA Enterprise from the drop-down menu

Enter your username and password and click the OK button.

If the following appears click the Continue button.

To see if WPA is connect right click on the menu button and there should be a check next to it.

 

Apple Macintosh: WEP Wireless Setup

You should use WPA if you can, but if you can't you can use WEP.

1.  Right click on your Airport icon and the following menu will appear.

2. Click on Other (Some systems may say join other network).

Do the following:

Network Name: type smcwifi-wep in lower case letters

Wireless Security: Select WEP 40/128-bit hex from the drop-down menu

Enter the Password (SID) 12345678901234567890123456  and click the OK button.

To see if WEP is connect right click on the menu button and there should be a check next to it.
