Media Services
Media Services is located to the right of the front lobby. Our regular service hours are Monday – Thursday 7:30am-10:00pm, Friday 7:30am-5:00pm. The department telephone number is 310-434-4352.
A/V Equipment
A/V (Audio/Visual) machines, designed for display and presentation, are available in the Media Center and throughout the main campus in our satellite rooms. Equipment checked out from the Media Center and the satellite closets can be reserved. Simply stop by the Media Center or call us at ext. 4352 to make a reservation.
The Academy of Entertainment & Technology, the Airport Campus, Emeritus College and the Madison School site all have A/V presentation machines, but they are distributed and managed by their respective site coordinators. Please refer to the Media Center for site coordinator contact information.
Digital Video Production
Digital Video is our latest media offering. With our current DV toolset, we can record and edit video with greater efficiency and quality compared to past analog video equipment.

Electronic Repair
Regular service hours are Mon.-Fri. 8:00am-4:30pm. The direct line for this area is 310-434-4833.
Our electronic repair services cover all college audio/visual equipment. Please contact our repair station if you experience problems or need preventative maintenance on college A/V machinery. We will attempt to repair A/V units, in house, prior to recommending outsourcing.
Requests for emergency support in the classroom can also be requested by contacting Fred Zimmerman (electronic repair specialist) at ext. 4833 or by e-mail at zimmerman_frederick@smc.edu.
Films/Videos
The Media Center houses a significant collection of films and videos for instructional usage. All in-house films and videos are currently catalogued and indexed according to subject and discipline. In addition, films, CDs, DVDs and laserdiscs can be rented from outside sources for 2-3 day periods. Advance reservations, 1-2 weeks, are requested.

Media Recording & Duplication Services
Audio and video production services are available for faculty and staff requesting tape duplications, classroom and event videotapings, off-air recordings and satellite downlinks. Advance requests (minimum 1 week) are needed to schedule personnel and equipment for classroom and event videotapings, off-air recordings and satellite downlinks. Contact any of our media service technicians for assistance with your media production needs.
We offer Audio Cassette, Video Tape and CD duplication sevices. All requests must be college related and duplication stock needs to be provided to us in advance.

Multimedia Production & Presentation Services
The Media Center offers full support for faculty, staff and administrators needing support with Microsoft PowerPoint presentations. Our Media Service Technicians can help you develop and deliver exciting PowerPoint presentations. Our staff is also available to assist in showing you how to operate our multimedia technology.

SMC Cable Television
Santa Monica College Television is owned and operated by the Santa Monica Community College District (SMCCD). Our station provides information on programs, events and class schedules to viewers in the City of Santa Monica.
Requests for promotion of college events, over the campus TV channel, should be directed to Bruce Smith, Public Information Office, at ext. 4904.
