Inter-Club Council
(ICC)
What is the
ICC?
The Inter-Club Council is a body under the Associated Students of Santa
Monica College.
The purpose of the Inter-Club Council shall be:
- To promote student awareness of and participation in SMC clubs. - To establish coordination, communication and cooperation among the
officially registered student clubs. - To promote the development of student leadership and service. - To promote campus and public awareness of Inter-Club Council
activities.
The ICC is the voice of all your club members!
Each Club has three elective ICC representatives (one of the reps. is
the club president) who can represent the club during ICC meetings. Only
one ICC representative needs to be present to represent the club.
Anyone can attend the ICC meetings- it is an open meeting, but only the
club's ICC representatives can represent the club during the ICC
meetings. The INTER-CLUB COUNCIL (all ICC representatives from all the installed
clubs) will hold ICC Elections in the Spring Semester, usually the last
ICC meeting, to elect three ICC Representatives to become ICC OFFICERS-
who will serve on the Associated Students Board of Directors (Directors'
areas are located in the AS OFFICE - Cayton Center, Room #202).
HOW TO START A CLUB: If
you are interested in starting a new club, just follow these basic
steps:
-
Find at least
five students, plus yourself, for a total of six (6) currently
enrolled Santa Monica College students, with a current A.S.
Sticker, who are interested in forming the club.
-
Find a full-time FACULTY member or Classified MANAGER to serve as your
club’s Advisor.
-
Download
and submit a Club Registration Packet to the A.S. office front desk.
The club reg. pkt. is usually available, about 2-3 weeks before the Fall
or Spring semesters begins. There are no official clubs during the
Summer or Winter sessions. (All continuing clubs will need to
re-register for each semester with current club reg. pkt.)
-
Complete an
online Club Orientation (for Club President, one of your ICC Reps., Club
Liaison & Club FT Advisor).
-
Attend bi-monthly
ICC meetings to become and maintain an officially recognized club.
Officially recognized
clubs will have access to the services of the Associated Students office and
may apply for funds allocated by the Associated Students.
