Jesse Teplitzky
Coach Teplitzky, “Coach T” to his players and work associates, enters his first year as the head men’s basketball coach at Santa Monica College, and his 10th year as a basketball coach on the college level. In nine previous seasons, Teplitzky quickly gained a reputation as one of the hardest working and successful assistant coaches at the community college and university levels, respectively. Coach Teplitzky began his coaching career at Metro State in Denver, where he was an assistant coach under Mike Dunlap, who now coaches for the Denver Nuggets. While Coach T served on the staff, Metro State won two NCAA Division II championships in 2000 and 2002. Furthermore, the program won 4 consecutive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championships. For his part in the most successful period in Metro State basketball history, Teplitzky was honored as an inductee into the Metro State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006. After the 2001-2002 season, Teplitzky moved to the west coast, joining John Peterson’s staff at Ohlone Community College in Fremont, California, where he served as assistant coach for 3 seasons. While at Ohlone, the men’s program took the Coast Conference North Championship two out of three seasons. The championships were the first in the history of the men’s basketball program at Ohlone. Most recently, Teplitzky coached two seasons under Denny Aye at Chabot Community College. Although he served as the interim head coach at Chabot for a short period of time in 2005, this will be his first opportunity to take over and establish his own program. Coach Teplitzky, who earned a Master’s degree in Sports Management from the University or Northern Colorado, also serves as an instructor in the Kinesiology and Physical Education department at Santa Monica College. Teplitzky, 29, is single and resides in west Los Angeles.
