FIELD TRIPS
As I am writing this update, Dr. James Murphy, our faculty advisor is contacting the Los Angeles Police Department to arrange a tour of their laboratories, in search of chemistry in forensic science. How they analyze the crime scenes ? What quantitative analytical tools do they use in the process of their investigations ? This is a field worth looking into and we our hoping for positive results. The date for trip is still being worked out but some time in April 1997 is a best guess.
There will also be a trip to an Analytical Laboratory later this semester. Don't miss it !
We have confirmed that we will be visiting the UCLA Department of Chemistry on a regular basis, once every year or two. The tour is very informative so we are trying to create a covalent bond between our Santa Monica College Chemistry Club and the University of California Los Angeles Department of Chemistry.
All other suggestions are welcome. All Students and Faculty of Santa Monica College are welcome to attend these field trips provided appropriate notice of attendance has been given to our faculty advisor. In some cases there will be a limited amount of students able to attend due to transportation limitations or limits placed by the places where we are going. Please check with our faculty advisor as early as possible to confirm.

MCAT Practice EXAM SHCEDULE
Thank You, Dr. Murphy, for making sure we had plenty of MCAT practice problems to solve this semester. The Chemistry Club has been doing MCAT practice Exams on an average of Once every other week, but its seems like we have been doing MCAT practice Exams every week. Its a close call.
Any way, we will continue to do these practice exams every other week for the time being. (Starting Tuesday March 25 ) Stop by SV-7 from 11:05 to 12:00 if you are interested in joining in on the fun.
