POINT COUNTERPOINT: Readers' Debate: Is SMC Too Liberal?
  • Liberal Brainwashing

As a full-time student at SMC, I would like to offer my opinion about this school being too liberal. I was disappointed that professors Michael Soldantenko and Toni R. Randall are not willing to be objective in their assessment of the political environment at this campus. However, I am not surprised. Like many of their fellow elitist colleagues, I am sure they cannot help it when these "educators" try to indoctrinate students in their propaganda sessions.uh, classes. I am sure these professors went through the same type of "re-education" camps when they first started college. However, these professors may want to take lessons from their socialist brethren in North Korea and China to be more effective in their spoon-feeding their dogma to naïve students.

As a misunderstood minority on this campus (I am a registered Republican), I feel there needs to be more inclusiveness in the discussion of values and issues that affect all of us. Why should I feel discriminated against because I support my country and its proud, courageous men and women who serve in the armed forces? But then, why is it applauded by the campus elitists when Progressive Alliance's members burn the American flag?

Come on people, this country was based on freedom, responsibility, and fairness. These leftist professors and their Progressive Alliance students are trying to take that freedom away from us by trying to stifle our political speech. How do they do this? They use tools like "political correctness" to stop freedom of speech on campus. However, this hypocrisy does not stop them from attacking and discriminating against anyone who believes differently than they do. Progressive Alliance (formerly the Socialist Action Club) was founded to spread the belief that our American system of values and ideas [is] evil and only violent revolution is the solution of these "diseases." They like to call anybody who disagrees with them as Nazis.

But remember, the fascism of 1930s Germany was started by the National Socialist party, which Adolf Hitler was its leader. The socialists have more in common with the Nazis than we do. The Cold War ended a few years back, but many good Americans died to prevent the spread of Communism. I honor all the brave and courageous Americans who died in Korea and Vietnam wars. The socialists do not feel the same way as I do. However, I do not care what they think of me and my fellow students. They only want to control all our actions and ideas. They are just a bunch of totalitarians, but they are not willing to admit it.

The socialists talk about revolutions and how America is so unjust, but in the same breath, these people blame Republicans for everything. Today in California , Republicans, unlike the Socialists, do not talk about blame but solutions. Thank god that Californians elected Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger to become our next governor.

Obviously, the silent majority correctly voted for him and did not listen to the shrill minority, which dominates this campus. These intolerable-to-liberty folks only talk about socialism and revolutions. These socialists are good at warning everyone that the world is about to end, but like always, it is a false alarm. For these reasons, I do find that SMC is too liberal.
