NEW BUSINESS ACTION ITEM

TO: Classified Senate

FROM: Executive Committee

PREPARED BY: President

SUBJECT: Nominations/Affirmation for vacant officer positions

Action Item No. 1

It is recommended that the Classified Senate NOMINATE and AFFIRM Classified Senators to fill current vacancies in the Classified Senate Executive Committee:

1. Recording Secretary

2. Corresponding Secretary

3. Treasurer/Fundraiser

Comment: Upon review of standing bylaws, it is appropriate to nominate and affirm temporary officers to serve the vacancies on the Executive Committee for the remainder of the term, which is until June 30, 2000. Officers must be nominated from senators serving at least one year as a Classified Senator. Vacancies do not require an election by the entire classified community since these officers serve in a temporary limited term. Should these individuals desire to run for a full term as an officer, they would be required to go through the regular election procedure as set forth in Article 7, Elections.
