5.                 New Business – Action Item

CARE Wish Tree – Tony Prestby:  The event will now be co-sponsored by CALWorks.  Recommendations have been made to (a) limit the cost of the gifts, (b) place the tree in a more easily accessible location, and (c) place a Toys R Us catalog near the tree.

6.                CSEA Report:  Jeff Frazier reminded Senators to please complete and return the negotiating team survey so that the negotiating team can respond better the needs and desires of the classified personnel.  He also commented on the last Personnel Commission meeting stating that there was a somewhat unsympathetic attitude by some of the Commissioners regarding the timing of the Personnel Commission meeting.

7.                  Comments:

a.                 Phil Hendricks:  Considering the 7:00 a.m. meeting time, there was relatively  good attendance of classified personnel at the Personnel Commission meeting.  Also that the subject of the fairness of the job approval and hiring processes was raised.

b.                 Mary-John Hart advised the Senate that there has been a motion by a Personnel Commissioner to re-write the Merit Rules.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
