SIGGRAPH is an international conference on computer graphics and interactive techniques whose focus is on the best and most innovative developments in art and computer graphics.
SIGGRAPH is one of 38 Special Interest Groups (SIGs) of the Association of Computing Machinery (AMC, founded in 1947). This conference originated 26 years ago to promote the acquisition and exchange of information and opinion on the theory, design, implementation, and application of computer-generated graphics and interactive techniques.
SIGGRAPH offers monthly local chapter meetings, and an annual national conference. At both, attendees discuss the latest topics in computer graphics and preview the latest work and discoveries of students, technologists, artists, and computer graphic professionals.
The national conference consists of courses, and papers delivered on art and technology, a career center and job fair, a graphics studio, an art gallery, an animation festival, an emerging technology area (the Millennium Motel) filled with incredible cutting-edge exhibits that represent the future, and an exhibition hall covering the latest technological developments. In addition, another section called the Electronic School house, was created to inspire students and teachers to learn from and educate each other. The function of the schoolhouse is to seek out educators from all fields, including museums, the visual effects industry, the art communities, to present enlightening courses.
