Summer Institute for High School Students

This program offers free classes, and free textbooks at SMC for qualified students in Biology, Business, Chemistry, Photo, Psychology, Robotics, and Photography.

Santa Monica College's Academy of Entertainment and Technology offers an intensive summer college program for high school students.  Formerly known as the Launchpad program, it has merged with the Santa Monica College Summer Institute for High School Students to assist them in developing portfolios for jobs in the entertainment industry and give them a head start on gaining acceptance into the College's Academy of Entertainment and Technology. This program is designed to provide classroom and hands-on instruction and adds a career exploration component that includes field trips to film, television and special effects studios and guest speakers from major animation and special effects companies.
