Anthropology Club

    Santa Monica College has a very active Anthropology Club.  Please join us for events every Thursday, and for club business meetings every Tuesday, 11:15 a.m. - 12:30, in Tech. 207.  Dr. Joan Barker and Dr. Jan Austin are the faculty advisors.  For information about club events, please contact Club President Anjali Browning.

SPRING EVENTS

Dr. Brandon Lewis will speak on the SMC Summer Field Class in Belize this Thursday, March 23, in Technology 207, at the Anthropology Club meeting, 11:15 - 12:35.  Come and see slides of the fieldwork and hear how you can participate!

Second Annual SMC Mammoth Hunt, Thursday, March. 16, 11:15-12:15, in the football stadium.   This was an atlatl demonstration by Dr. Elizabeth Lawlor, sponsored by the SMC Anthropology Club.

Royal Anthropological Institute  The oldest anthropology association, this is the British equivalent of the American Anthropological Association, with links to publications.
The Paleo Ring  An award-winning educational site with links to 241 web pages devoted to paleontology, evolutionary biology, paleoanthropology, and prehistoric archaeology.
Anthropology Web Resources   Annotated links to many anthro-related web pages. 
The Darwin Awards are given to individuals posthumously for spectacularly removing their genetic material from the human gene pool.  This one's just for fun.
The Ishmael Community on the Web   This site is a must, since we have featured Daniel Quinn in the Newsletter.   It's pretty graphics intensive so it takes a little patience, althrough very pleasant to look at.  (This link includes information that is not supported by scientific investigations or endorsed by SMC Anthropology faculty.)
