TEACHING POSITIONS

The California Community College Board of Governors minimum qualifications are divided between disciplines which require a Masters Degree for hire, and disciplines in which a Masters Degree is not generally expected or available. California Community College credentials are no longer being issued, but candidates who possess valid California Community College credentials continue to be recognized as meeting the minimum qualifications to perform service in the subject area(s) listed on the credential.

The Santa Monica Community College District, in its desire to select outstanding faculty members from the largest possible pool of applicants, recognizes the fact that candidates may have attained expertise in a discipline through a variety of means. Certain combinations of education, professional experience and other accomplishments in the field may be judged by the District as equal to the stated minimum qualifications for performing service in a discipline. Candidates who feel they possess such equivalent qualifications should be certain that all relevant information is provided with the application form so that their qualifications may be appropriately evaluated.
