INFO SESSION ON COURT REPORTING, TRANSCRIPTION CLASSES

Santa Monica College Extension will hold a free information session on its court reporting, scopist and medical transcription programs, which can lead to high paying and rewarding careers.

The session will be at noon Saturday, May 17 in Room 252 of the SMC Business Building, 1900 Pico Blvd. Parking is free.

Court reporters are highly paid professionals who work in a field that offers independence, flexible working hours, and job opportunity. SMC's court reporting program is recognized by the California Shorthand Reporters Board and prepares students for the State Certified Shorthand Reporters exam.

Scopists use computers to edit depositions and court transcripts for court reporters and reporting agencies, both in the office and at home.

Training in medical transcription offers a variety of job opportunities in the expanding field of health information and can lead to transcription, administrative assistant, secretarial and clerical positions in hospitals, medical offices, clinics, laboratories, medical insurance offices, and even legal firms that deal with medical problems.

Summer session classes being June 23. Call (310) 452-9341.
