The Calendar Girls

B.J. Dockweiler struts her stuff as Miss February at the CG recruitment luncheon at Spago.

Introducing The Calendar Girls

On July 11, 2004, after a private screening of the comedy, Calendar Girls, a true story about a group of English ladies who decide to publish a “semi-nudie calendar” to raise money, the President’s Circle women decided that the SMCF CG’s is exactly what was needed to bring in new Circle members and to… have fun!

Exec. Dir. JoAnn Ortiz (Miss November) and CG President Pat Train Gage (Miss December) do their own version of 'All That Jazz' at the President's Circle dinner.

In the last year, the number of CG’s has grown to 65. Members are busy recruiting others to pay and play for Santa Monica College. Recruitment activities have included a luncheon at Spago hosted by PC members Mario Camara and Ira Waldman, a spa evening with Dr. Ava Shamban, movies, a Halloween walk for Measure S, classes in flower arranging and sushi-making and special invitations to events on and off campus.

Dr. Ava Shamban hosts a spa night for the CG's at her Santa Monica clinic. Ava is a member of the Foundation's Board of Directors and is featured on the hit show, 'Extreme Makeover.'

Under the leadership of CG President Pat Train Gage and Vice President B.J. Dockweiler, more than 50 new members have joined the President’s Circle.

Pat Train Gage models her CG sweatshirt. Members earn their shirts by recruiting a new member for President's Circle.

What’s next in 2006? Calendar Guys (the SMC Rat Pack?)… naturally.
