SMC has always respected the
confidentiality of everyone using Health Services. We are required by law to protect the privacy of your
health information and adhere to the federal privacy standards
that took effect on April 14, 2003. These new standards
provide patients/clients with access to their medical records
and more control over how their personal health information is
used and disclosed. This patient privacy protection is
part of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act,
known as HIPAA. You can obtain more information about this

SMC Health Services will not disclose any medical information about
you or your medical records, without your written permission unless it is required by law for the protection of public health
