Camara, Nzinga
Nzinga Camara has had a career as a dance
performer, teacher and choreographer that has spanned two decades and has taken
her from West Africa, Caribbean, and to Europe. She is the artistic director of
Kouman Kele West African Dance Ensemble. Ms.
Camara has also performed at many festivals, community events and theater
presentations, such as: The Los Angeles African Market Place and Culture Faire,
LA Watts Towers Warwick’s Annual Aids Benefit, and Grand performance for Mr.
Nelson Mandela for the LA Coliseum. She
has thrilled audiences from all backgrounds with her exquisite presentation of
traditional West African Dance. She now teaches at UCLA and Santa Monica
College. She has television, music video, and movie credits, including
Roots II and The Color Purple.
