Edwards, Margit
Margit Edwards is a
dancer, dance researcher, choreographer and director and has recently completed
her Masters Degree in Dance at UCLA. Ms.
Edwards has studied and worked in dance and theater in New York and Los Angeles.
She has been studying Afro Brazilian dance with master teacher and choreographer
Luiz Badaro in Los Angeles, internationally known teacher and choreographer Rosāngela
Silvestre and with Raimundo Bispo dos Santos aka Mestre King in Bahia since
1996. As a member of Viver Brasil Dance Company since 1998, Ms Edwards has
performed in numerous venues throughout Southern California (The Hollywood Bowl,
Getty Outdoor Stage, Riverside Community College Landis Auditorium).
After
completing her BA in Theater, Ms Edwards co-founded and served as Artistic
Director of Prymari Colors Theater Company in Long Beach and as Program Director
and Dance/Drama Coordinator (1996-1999) for the Los Angeles Center for Education
Research (LACER), Ms. Edwards was responsible for the programming of various
after school visual and performing arts programs which served the Hollywood
community and the youth of Los Angeles. Ms Edwards has spent the last 7 years
teaching dance in elementary and secondary schools as well as on the University
level throughout Los Angeles County.
