Frequently Asked Questions (and Answers)

What if I have Windows?  Can I still install iTunes and view SMC on iTunes content?

Yes.  Apple has a Windows 2000/XP version of iTunes available for free download off of their website http://www.apple.com/itunes.

Is SMC on iTunes part of the iTunes Music Store?

No.  The tracks offered in SMC on iTunes are kept separate from the content on the main iTunes Music Store.  Therefore, you will not be able to access SMC on iTunes directly without first visiting http://itunes.smc.edu.

My search on the main iTunes Music Store is not returning many SMC tracks.  Is there something wrong?

No, everything is fine.  Since this is a special section for Santa Monica College, there are no direct links off of the main iTunes Music Store.  You must first visit http://itunes.smc.edu to access SMC on iTunes.

Will I have to pay to access the SMC on iTunes site?

No.  You may freely preview and download all of the content from SMC on iTunes

I don’t have an iPod. Will I be able to use other mp3 players for SMC on iTunes content?

Yes and no.  There is moderate support in iTunes for some 3rd party player, but they will not be able to play AAC files (including enhanced podcasts) or videos.
