HISTORY

The Latina/o Youth Conference is an annual event held at Santa Monica College, each spring since 1989.The conference has focused on assisting young Latina/o high school students to build strong foundations
for future achievements.

MISSION

The mission of the Latina/o Youth Conference
is to encourage and motivate young Latinos
to pursue higher education to become successful women and men. The founders
and volunteers believe that a vision of a successful future inspires hard work and dedication.

The conference provides opportunities for young Latinos to meet Latina/o professionals.Through a combination of an inspirational keynote address, interactive workshops, a college and career expo and interview with professionals, our hope is that you will learn how to set and achieve your goals. In addition, our mission is to provide useful information which will help you along

What does it mean to be successful?
Can I make a difference?
Why should I stay in school?
How do I prepare for college?
What options do I have as a young mother?
How can I afford to go to college?
How can my parents support my education?
What community resources are available to me?
Am I smart enough?
Can I still go to college even if I am an undocumented student?
