JOIN A NETWORK OF LATINO STUDENTS, FACULTY, & STAFF!

Adelante is an academic program which focuses on:
(1)academic achievement & transfer to a four-year college, &
(2)
cultural awareness & personal growth. Our classes highlight
the Latino culture & experience within  the  context of  the 
course  subject.  

Classes emphasize verbal, written & critical thinking skills. Most classes transfer to the UC & CSU systems. 

Students with ANY academic goal are welcome to join.  Our staff will follow up with you throughout the semester, monitor your academic progress, & keep you up to date on our center & program activities.

In order to join the Adelante program for Fall 2008, you need to attend one of the following information sessions.

Benefits of joining Adelante:

*Participation in classes with a large Latino enrollment

*Joining a network of Latino students & faculty

*Eligibility for specially designated Latino Center scholarships

*Classes taught by professors who have a special interest in promoting Latino student success

*On-going follow-up & contact with a network of academic counselors, counseling aides & student helpers

Students who join Adelante will:
*Maintain a minimum 2.4 cumulative GPA or higher
by the end of their second semester in the program.

*Meet with a Latino Center counselor as required each semester.

*Follow the recommendations & referrals of Adelante & Latino Center faculty.

Students who do not meet Adelante program responsibilities will be subject to dismissal from the program and must remain out for one full semester.
