Kidd, retiring recreation and leisure studies professor,
won the Professional Excellence Award June 12 from the
Alpha chapter of Women in Leisure Services/Chi Kappa
Rho, a national organization. She retired last week after
teaching at SMC since 1965.
Adjunct dance
professors Meri Bender, Iris
Pell-Davison and Roberta
Wolin-Manker are performing this weekend
in “Dance Cycles” at Highways Performance
Space in Santa Monica.
Andrea Levine, daughter of Media Services Coordinator
Steve Levine, was the valedictorian this month at the
graduation of Granada Hills High School. She will attend
UC Davis this fall as an environmental studies major,
with an emphasis in pre-medicine, on a first-year scholarship.
Tony Prestby, public programs coordinator, was installed
last week as the new president of the California Community
Colleges Classified Senate for a two-year term. He
has also been appointed to the Santa Monica Salvation
Army Advisory Board representing SMC.
Charlie Yen, director of events
and contracts, has received his bachelor’s
degree in business management from the University
of Phoenix.
