Freeman, adjunct
photography professor and award-winning photographer, has
recently had a new book
published, Desert Realty, by the
Los Angeles Times Press. The book is the culmination of a six-year
project combining traditional
photography of gas stations, motels, trailer homes and other
odd or quaint architecture found in the California and western
region deserts with digital manipulations of the subjects’ environments.
His newest book and images have also been featured in Camera
Arts magazine and the Sept. 21 issue of the Los
Angeles Times Magazine. Logon to his website.
Sandi Burnett, disabled student services
professor, presented “Access
Solutions: Innovative Identification and Remediation of Accessibility
Barriers” at the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation
Facilities’ International Conference June 20 in Tucson,
Ariz.
Tony Prestby, public programs coordinator, has been named
Relay for Life Volunteer of the Year by the American Cancer
Society's Los Angeles Coastal Cities Unit for his work on the
fundraising Relay for Life events at SMC and other Westside
communities. Prestby will receive his award Oct. 8.
