
Donald Frederickson is currently a member of the faculty and staffs of El
Camino and Santa Monica Colleges,
where he accompanies Music Theater and Opera Workshops, choral activities,
voice classes, and Applied Music Forums. At these schools he has accompanied
performances and master classes with Roberta Peters, Sherrill Milnes, Eddie Daniels, Richard Stolzman,
John Raitt, Marni Nixon,
John Aler, Carol Neblett,
the Ahn Trio and International Pavarotti Competition
winner, Timothy Blevens.
Recently, Mr. Frederickson was honored by the Academy
of Television Arts and Sciences for
his contribution to Santa Monica College Opera Theater’s performance of
Gounod’s “Faust,” the 2000 SMCOT television video which was
honored with six Emmy Awards.
A graduate of Dartmouth College,
Mr. Frederickson holds two degrees in Piano Accompaniment from the School
of Music, USC, where he studied
with the legendary Heifetz accompanist, Brooks Smith.
Other teachers at USC included Gwendolyn Koldofsky,
Malcolm Hamilton, and Natalie Limonick.
A frequent recitalist in the South
Bay, Mr. Frederickson has
accompanied the L.A. Master Chorale, the Welsh Choir of So. California, and the
South Bay Opera, and has appeared at the Interlochen
Arts Academy, Dartmouth College, Bear Valley Music Festival, Cobo Hall in Detroit, Gammage
Theater in Tempe, AZ, and the Aspen Music Festival. Mr. Frederickson is
currently organist at First Church of Christ Science, Long
Beach, and has appeared as guest organist atSt. Vibiana’s Cathedral
and the San Gabriel Mission. In August of 2002 he performed on four virginals
and harpsichords at Fenton House, Hampstead Heath, London. He is a violinist in the
Santa Monica Symphony, and in his twentieth year at Santa
Monica College.
