FACILITIES
Santa Monica College's 38-acre main campus is located about a mile from the Pacific Ocean in the heart of Santa Monica. Satellite campuses are located on in east Santa Monica, at the Santa Monica Airport, in downtown Santa Monica, and at the former Madison School in central Santa Monica.
Facilities include classroom buildings, library, performing arts facilities, planetarium, art gallery and complex, photography gallery, student center, gymnasium, stadium and track (used in the 1984 Olympics).
The campus has been undergoing a major physical transformation with new construction and reconstruction projects, including the Humanities & Social Science Building, which was completed in fall 2007; a new, state-of-the-art Theatre Arts Building, which opened in fall 2006; and the Library Expansion & Modernization, which was completed in August 2003.The new SMC Performing Arts Center is scheduled to be completed in fall 2008, as is a new quad.
With voter approval in March 2002 of a $160 million bond measure and in November 2004 of a $135 million bond, SMC will continue to bring on-line many new projects over the next decade or so.
